HDSP Series (AES-32, MADI, 9652, 9632, Multiface, Digiface, RPM)
HDSPe Series (PCI, MADI, MADIface, ExpressCard, RayDAT, AES, AIO)
Driver for Windows XP/Vista/7/8, 32 and 64 Bit
Important information: Driver version 3.31
This is the HDSP(e) series WDM streaming driver, offering additional features like WDM streaming, kernel streaming, 64 bit support and full Vista/7 compatibility. It supports all HDSP and HDSPe series cards and systems simultaneously. The TCO can be operated with the HDSP AES-32, the HDSPe PCI/MADI/AES/RayDAT/AIO, but not with the HDSP 9632.
Notes on the driver
-----------------
- The driver requires a new Firmware (flash) in case you are updating from driver 2.94 or older.
- The driver does not support MME.
- This driver requires a newer version of DIGICheck, version 5 or higher. Please download it from the RME website, section Downloads/DIGICheck.
Installation
-------------
Latest driver:
http://www.rme-audio.com/download/hdsp_wdm_3xxxx.zip
The driver requires a new Firmware (Flash Update Tool, FUT) in case you are updating from driver 2.94 or older.
Firmware for HDSP series cards:
http://www.rme-audio.com/download/fut_wdm_dsp.zip
Firmware for HDSPe series cards:
http://www.rme-audio.de/download/fut_wdm_dspe.zip
The firmware update is not possible unless the driver had been installed before.
Both driver installation and flash update are explained in detail in the manual!
*** First time installation of RME Audio Interfaces under Windows 7/8 ***
The procedure and instructions found in the manual are correct and stay valid, except for the start of the installation. In Windows 7 Microsoft removed the automatic start of the Driver Software Update dialog. Therefore this dialog has to be started manually after the failed driver installation.
- Hit the Win key, type 'Device Manager', start the Device Manager by selecting it from the list and hit Return.
- The device is shown with a yellow warning symbol. Usually it is already found in the correct category, Sound, Video and Game Controller (Plug & Play detects a multimedia device). The Fireface UC is even shown with its correct name.
- Right click on the device and select 'Update Driver Software' from the context menu.
- The dialog 'Update Driver Software' appears. Now follow the instructions given in the manual.

*Note: This version supports ASIO timecode (APP) only, converting LTC to MTC is not supported. Please note that the hardware design requires to use an additional word clock cable in the folling case:
Generating an audio clock out of the incoming timecode requires a BNC cable from the TCO's word clock output to the word clock input of the Multiface/Digiface. In the Settings dialog Pref. Sync Ref has to be set to TCO and Clock Mode must be set to AutoSync. If the incoming timecocde is not used to clock the HDSP system the BNC cable is not needed.
