Advantages of the microphone:
Stereo mic input, with 2 additional combo XLR + 1/4 jacks, for a total of 4 track recording at once. This means you can record both a vocal, drum, etc with the built-in mic and 2 instruments at the same time! This unit works standalone, with 2 AA batteries or power adapter for long recording. Also works as a 4 in/2 out audio interface, which is plug-and-play with Windows, Mac, and Linux. Records up to 96khz in WAV or MP3. Built in metronome and tuner. Speed control. 48/24v phantom power. What's not to love!?
Disadvantages of the microphone:
phantom power can eat through batteries moderately fast (as expected)
