Mic Test

Review #15029 about “Marantz Professional Microphone MPM1000 (XLR connection to Focusrite pro-audio interface)”

Microphone: Marantz Professional Microphone MPM1000 (XLR connection to Focusrite pro-audio interface)
Rating: Excellent (5 out of 5)
Date:

Advantages of the microphone:
Very, very clear recording, nearly no noise, beautiful quality. Quality heavily depends on the interface. Connected to a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 for test.

Disadvantages of the microphone:
Needs an XLR interface with phantom power -- won't work without power. The supplied tripod is very basic, but sufficient.

Author’s comment:
Marantz put it's brand on a Chinese manufactured condenser microphone. The brand name gave me confidence that quality control is properly enforced. Otherwise, the microphone hardware is probably the same as a no-brand Chinese model, which might retail at lower price but it might not last long or perform as well due to quality control at manufacture.
