Advantages of the microphone:
Relatively cheap, seems to have decent directionality, and sounds worlds better than anything else I have access to. Comes with multiple mounts so I can use it on different pairs of headphones.
Disadvantages of the microphone:
Weird mount system doesn't work with every headphone, requires pretty big headphones to work. Could be more directional.
