Advantages of the microphone:
It's integrated. People hear what I say, usually.
Disadvantages of the microphone:
Sounds like I'm speaking inside a shipping container together with 5 server fans and a rabid squirrel wearing plate armor.

My audio driver may be making things worse. Maybe the laptop's previous owner spilled water in the mic array. This is in no way a definitive review, but one personal experience.
