Mic Test

Review #38423 about “Shure SM-58”

Microphone: Shure SM-58
Rating: Excellent (5 out of 5)
Date:

Advantages of the microphone:
Excellent musician quality sound at a reasonable cost. This live show-tested and reliable mic has been a staple in my setup for over 15 years, serving as my main mic for both live performances/recording vocals, as well as my primary mic for gaming. It gets used for 2-12 hours a day, almost every single day, and it's still going strong...

Disadvantages of the microphone:
Requires a way to run an XLR-style microphone into your PC, likely via a sound card or audio interface that features one.

Author’s comment:
My setup features my Shure SM-58 mic connected to a Boss VE-20 Vocal Processor, which is then routed into a Boss RC-505 Loop Station. The RC-505 functions as the audio interface and is connected to my PC via USB Cable.
