Advantages of the microphone:
This microphone picks up sounds very well, while also filtering out some of the background noise.
Disadvantages of the microphone:
Sounds a touch echo-ey, however, it is not likely to be something that can not be fixed within the Astro Command Center

Overall, the microphone that comes standard with this headset is a pretty good entry-level mic. It will likely be perfectly fine for most, especially when you consider it's low price point and ease of use.
